The Carolina Girl Yacht

Some weddings feel extra special — not just because of the location or the details, but because of the people. Julianne was one of those brides. We just clicked.
Her love story with Will began like so many modern romances — on Bumble. Two people swiped right, and everything changed. At the time, they were both living in San Diego. Julianne had just left active duty in the Navy and started working as a government contractor, while Will was still on active duty in the Coast Guard. It didn’t take long for them to realize they shared more than just a military background — a deep love for the water and a spirit of adventure brought them even closer.
For their engagement session, we met on Folly Beach — a meaningful place for Julianne. We even stopped by her late grandfather’s beachfront home to capture a few special portraits. It was emotional and beautiful — a quiet nod to someone whose presence was still very much felt.
Their Charleston wedding was the perfect mix of tropical whimsy and nautical charm. A summery palette of blues, peaches, pinks, whites, and soft greens created a vibrant but elegant feel. The custom invitation suite featured a Charleston nautical toile design — a subtle and stylish nod to their love of the water and coastal life.
Julianne and Will were married at the historic French Huguenot Church in downtown Charleston. After the ceremony, we took portraits around the cobblestone streets and pastel facades of downtown before heading to their unique reception venue — The Carolina Girl Yacht, where guests celebrated aboard as the sun set over the Charleston Harbor.
Let’s talk about the weather: it was one of the hottest days of the summer — Charleston truly turned up the heat — but not even the sweat could ruin the celebration. The dance floor stayed full, and the love was even warmer than the weather.
Julianne honored her mother in the most beautiful way: she wore her mother’s veil and even recreated a special photo from her parents’ wedding — a joyful toast that spanned generations.
From a Bumble match to a yacht party in the Charleston heat, Julianne and Will’s day was personal, joyful, and completely unforgettable.
