The Story
Sarah and Alex’s love story began as high school sweethearts. What better love story than two teenagers meeting in high school, falling in love and eventually making their bond forever?
This incredible couple dated for 7 years through high school and college—the groom graduating from the Citadel Military College and the Bride from Clemson University. Their love only grew stronger through the years both sharing a love of traveling, hunting, fishing, and romantic date nights. Eventually, Sarah and Alex bought their first home together. Although Alex has a deep rooted hate for Clemson, his love for Sarah could not be overcome, and Alex popped the question out front of their new home.
On August 27th, 2018 their storybook wedding took place at the historic Summerall Chapel on the Citadel’s campus, built in 1936. The chapel has held a special place in the life of the Corps of Cadets throughout the years, and it was only fitting that Sarah and Alex started their next chapter together at it’s altar below beautiful stained glassed windows and the words, ““Remember Now Thy Creator in the Days of Thy Youth” (Ecclesiastes 12:1). Topping it off, the groom’s father married the couple surrounded by their closest friends and family.
The Wedding Photography
Their wedding was followed by wedding photography around the pristine manicured Citadel campus—and what an opportunity it was to shoot with such a historic backdrop. Sarah’s dress was stunning, trimmed in exquisite lace and complemented with Badgley Mischka shoes—to die for. Her fun, energetic and caring personality was on display throughout their wedding and reception photography. Alex and his groomsmen fittingly wore blue tuxedoes with scarlet bowties while the bridesmaids’ gorgeous scarlet dresses and bouquets of white roses with scarlet accents brought it all together. The photo shoot on campus was followed by a more photos on the golf course and an unforgettable wedding reception at the Country Club of Charleston.
This intimate, traditional Charleston wedding at the Citadel was one to remember.
Every detail was carefully planned from the polka dotted bow ties to the incredible, classic flower arrangements. The backdrop of the Citadel campus and Summerall Chapel, combined with the immaculate greens of the Country Club of Charleston made for beautiful wedding photography Sarah and Alex will cherish for all their years.
